CONDITIONS OF PLAY
1. The Competition shall be match play
in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R & A Rules
Limited and the Local Rules approved by the Competition Committee.
2. The Competition will be under the charge of the Competition Committee
of the Renfrewshire Golf Union to whom all disputes will be referred
and whose decision shall be final. The Committee reserve the right
to amend the Conditions of the Competition.
3. Each Team shall comprise of four players, one from each category.
(5 and under ; 6 - 12 ; 13 - 20 and 21 - 28.) Team players can change
from match to match, provided handicap categories are complied with.
A player may not represent a category higher than his current handicap
permits. A player with a higher handicap may represent a lower handicap
and play off the maximum handicap in that category. Each match will
be played with full handicap allowance. If a player's handicap is
lower than the category he represents, the match is conceded as
a 10 and 8 win.
4. The initial Competition shall be in the format of a round robin
which shall consist of six groups of 3 clubs and two groups of 2
clubs, the former playing one home match and one away match and
the latter home and away. In both cases the winner of each group
will be determined by the aggregate number of matches won based
on 2 points for a win and 1 point for a halved match. In the event
of a tie, the team with the better matches won in their head to
head will be used to determine the winner. If still tied then the
result of the category one match shall determine the result. If
still even then it shall be decided by the result of the category
two and so on. In groups of two clubs this shall be the aggregate
result. If the outcome is unresolved then lots will be drawn.
5. The draw for the Competition shall be arranged that any team
being drawn in a group of two clubs shall not play again in a group
of two clubs for the following two years.
6. In the event of a club withdrawing after the closing time and
date the entry fee shall not be refunded. Failure to notify the
Competition Committee of withdrawal shall result in a ban from playing
in the same competition the following year. Only in exceptional
circumstances and on formal appeal to the Competition Committee
will the ban be lifted.
7. The ball the player plays must be named on the current List of
Conforming Golf Balls issued by the R & A.
8. The driver the competitor carries must have a club head identified
by model and loft that is named on the current List of Conforming
Driver Heads issued by R & A Rules Limited. Note: Any individual
driver on the List, if tested on pendulum testing apparatus approved
by R & A Rules Limited must not have a characteristic time greater
than 257 microseconds. Penalty for Breach of Condition: Disqualification.
9. In this competition a player may obtain distance information
by using a device that
measures distance ONLY. If during a stipulated round a player uses
a distance measuring device that is designed to measure other conditions
that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, windspeed, temperature,
etc) the player is in breach of Rule 14.3, for which the penalty
is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function
is actually used.
10. During the stipulated round a competitor may not use a motorised
vehicle unless specifically authorised by the Committee.
11. Pace of Play (Note 2 to Rule 6 - 7) In the absence of mitigating
circumstances, a group is liable to be timed if it is in excess
of the time allowed and, in the case of 2nd or subsequent groups
out of position. The time allowed will be determined by the Competition
Committee and will be notified to all competitors.
12. A competitor is not permitted to withdraw at any stage of the
Competition except for emergency reasons or medical circumstances
explained and deemed acceptable by the Competition Committee. A
competitor failing to notify the Competition Committee in person
of his withdrawal before departing the competition venue will be
the subject of an automatic ban from the same competition the following
year. Only in exceptional circumstances and on formal appeal will
the ban be lifted.
QUALIFICATION
Be male at birth and of Amateur Status as defined by R & A Rules
Limited.
Be on possession of a handicap under the current Congu Unified Handicapping
System.
ENTRIES
Entry to the competition will normally be through affiliated club
secretaries.
