County Seniors

Eastwood Golf Club

 

The county seniors is an 18 hole handicap competition for members of Renfrewshire Golf Clubs aged 55 years and over. There are potentially three handicap categories dependent on entries, scratch to 12, 13 to 20 and 21 to 28. (These handicap categories can be altered depending on the entries.) This years competition will be held at Eastwood Golf Club on Wednesday 13th June. Entry forms should be on club notice boards by 1st May, otherwise contact the secretary of RGU.

Entry is limited to a field of 150 players.
In the event of over subscription higher handicaps will be balloted out on a club for club basis.

CONDITIONS OF PLAY

  1. The Competition shall be played over one round of 18 holes in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R & A Rules Limited and the Local Rules as approved by the Competition Committee.
  2. The Competition shall be under the charge of the Competition Committee of Renfrewshire Golf Union to whom all disputes will be referred and whose decision shall be final. The Committee reserve the right to amend the Conditions of the Competition.
  3. It shall comprise of 18 holes of stroke play. The competition shall be divided into three groups by virtue of handicap: There are three handicap categories, scratch to 12, 13 to 20 and 21 to 28. (These handicap categories can be altered depending on the entries.) The trophy shall be held by the overall winner, whose responsibility is to ensure that the trophy is returned to the Renfrewshire Golf Union when requested.
  4. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided on the better inward half. If still tied then the winner will be decided by the best last 6 ; 3 ; 1 holes as appropriate.
  5. In the event of a competitor withdrawing after the closing time and date, the entry fee shall not be refunded.
    Failure to notify the Competition Committee of withdrawal shall result in a ban from playing in the same competition the following year. Only in exceptional circumstances and on formal appeal to the Competition Committee will the ban be lifted.
  6. The ball the player plays must be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the R & A.
  7. The driver the competitor carries must have a club head identified by model and loft, that is named on the current List of Conforming Driver Heads issued by R & A Rules Limited. Note: Any individual driver on the List, if tested on pendulum testing apparatus approved by R & A Rules Limited must not have a characteristic time greater than 257 microseconds. Penalty for Breach of Condition : Disqualification.
  8. In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance ONLY. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc.) the Player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.
  9. During the stipulated round, a competitor may not use a motorised vehicle unless specifically authorised by the Committee.
  10. Pace of Play (Note 2 to Rule 6-7) In the absence of mitigating circumstances, a group is liable to be timed if it is in excess of the time allowed and, in the case of 2nd or subsequent groups out of position. The time allowed will be determined by the Competition Committee and will be notified to all competitors.
  11. A competitor is not permitted to withdraw at any stage of the Competition except for emergency reasons or medical circumstances explained and deemed acceptable by the Competition Committee. A competitor failing to notify the Competition Committee in person of his withdrawal before departing the Competition venue will be subject to an automatic ban from the same competition the following year. Only in exceptional circumstances and on formal appeal may the ban be lifted.

QUALIFICATION

  • Be male at birth and of Amateur Status as defined by the R & A Rules Limited.
  • Be in possession of a handicap under the current Congu Unified Handicapping System.

ENTRIES

  • Entry to the competition will normally be through affiliated club secretaries with 12 applications allowable from each club. ( 24 entries are accepted from the host club ) These should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the competition in order that the draw can be made and published. Each club may also submitt a reserve list to be considered in the event of under subscription. Late applications can be accepted by contacting the Secretary of Renfrewshire Golf Union.
  • The starting field shall be 150 and in the event of over subscription the number shall be reduced by ballot. In this instance, refund of entry fees will be issued to those applicants who fail to gain entry.
  • Entries should be sent to the Secretary, Renfrewshire Golf Union accompanied by the entry fee. Fees for accepted reserve list applicants will be collectable on the day of play. Postal Orders and post dated cheques will not be accepted and no receipt will be issued.
  • All entries are the subject of the approval of the Competition Committee, who reserve the right to refuse or accept or, having accepted, subsequently reject any entry and shall not be called upon to give any reason for their action.

REGISTRATION
Competitors are required to register at the Renfrewshire Golf Union registration desk at least 15 minutes prior to their tee off time.
