The final stages of the Duncan Trophy were played at Renfrew GC on Sunday 1st August in lovely summer conditions. The course was running and the greens were good.
The first semi was a walkover for Roddy MacAulay due to the withdrawal of Cameron Lyle. The second match, between Jamie Sinnamon and Jack Crawford, was a close affair where only 1 hole separated the pair throughout. Jack was 1 up coming up the last but a great birdie from Jamie squared the match and took them into extra holes where Jamie closed it out on the Nineteenth.
In the final the early stages belonged to Roddy who went into 2 hole lead after 7. However the match was square at the turn. The back nine was closely fought with only an odd hole changing hands. Crucially a lost ball by Jamie at the Sixteenth gave Roddy a one hole lead which he held onto, till the end, winning by one hole and taking the trophy.
Both matches played in good spirit and a credit to the union.
