Jamie Sinnamon wins Renfrewshire Boys Champion of Champions
Played at Paisley Golf Club and once again generously sponsored by Greenlaw Garage, Paisley, on a day when for once the gods shone on the RGU the weather was superb and with a course in great condition the prospect of good golf was always on the cards.
In the Final Jamie Sinnamon – Greenock Whinhill faced current Scottish and Renfrewshire Boys Champion of Champions, Jack Currie – Greenock in an all Tail of the Bank final.
The game started in a fairly scrappy manner with Jack going out of bounds at the first while Jamie had a solid par to go 1 up. Jack won the second with par when Jamie seriously overshot the green. Jack then went 1 up with a superb birdie at the third. The fourth was halved but the fifth was conceded after a wild drive by Jack. The sixth was halved in par and Jack went 1 up with a great approach shot birdie at the seventh while Jamie missed the green. The eighth was halved in par and the ninth was halved in bogeys after both hit poor drives to the right and had to play back to the fairway.
Jack Currie was 1 up at the turn.
The second nine was in complete contrast to the first nine with Jamie hitting a great second to ten for a tap in birdie to square the game. After halves in par at eleven, Jamie made birdie at the par 5 twelfth to go 1up. At the short thirteenth both missed the green and the hole was halved. With Jack failing to get up and down at the fourteenth Jamie won it with par to go 2 up and with the same thing happening at the next hole this meant Jamie was 3 up with 3 to play. He closed out the game at the par 5 sixteenth with his third birdie in seven holes to win the match by 4 and 2.
A match played in the best of spirits between 2 friends.
