Renfrewshire Boys defeat Stirlingshire
Renfrewshire Boys Golf Team defeated the team from Stirlingshire Golf Union at Fereneze Golf Club on Sunday 28th July by 7 matches to 1.
This continues the good start they had to this season where they won their first 2 matches and now top the league as the only unbeaten team.
The course was in good condition, but the weather conditions were poor with light drizzle and rain.The Renfrewshire team was again changed but this shows the strength of the player pool.
Drew Cleaver continued his unbeaten form and ran out a comfortable winner by 6/4.
Mac Holmes, had a walk over as his opponent did not play.
Rhys McIlroy returning to the team put in a strong performance and won 5/4
John Jack was up against the newly crowned West of Scotland Boys Champion but showed his class by holding the Champion to a square game, something nobody else could do the previous week.
Timmy Erskine making a welcome return to the team had a struggle on his hands but managed to secure a square game.
Harry Kellock once again proved a formidable opponent maintaining his 100% record and closed out the game at the 17th.
Josh Greer had a solid performance in advance of his play at the Scottish Amateur this week and won 5/4In the final game.
Cameron Percy was much to strong for his opponent and had a comfortable 8/7 win on a course where he has been champion.
The match, as always, was played in a very sporting manner.
